Kingdom: Plantae
Phylum: Tracheophyta
Class: Magnoliopsida (Dicotyledons)

Magnoliopsida comprises of flowering, seed producing, plants that produce an embryo with two cotyledons hence they are commonly called dicotyledons or dicots. The first green blade emerging from the seed upon germination is the cotyledon and it contains sugars and other nutrients for growth until the leaf is able to photosynthesize. Features that are generally common to members of this class include vascular bundles of the stem that are usually in a ring that encloses the pith, leaves are mostly net veined, and flower parts are usually in sets of five, sometimes four, or occasionally three. Around 50% of dicotyledons are more or less woody stemmed. Annuals, biennials, vines, epiphytes, and aquatics are also well represented in the dicotyledons.
